Conservative Dentistry
Conservative dentistry deals with the most common tooth disease which is dental caries. It is all about preventing and treating dental caries.
Dental caries develops characteristic symptoms such as ugly carious spots on teeth and dental cavities. The latter may lead to the irritation and damage of internal dental tissue (pulp) when untreated. It results in pain and may cause serious difficulties to properly chew and crush food. In extreme cases untreated caries leads to tooth decay. Decaying teeth are not only disastrous for your smile, but being a source of hidden infections, they can severely affect the health of your whole body.
The ultimate treatment for dental caries is tooth extraction. It is always a last resort since having a tooth extracted is a serious loss. Certainly, lost teeth can be replaced, but no replacement is as good as your own healthy teeth.
All patients visiting MEDYK Dental and Medical Centre are provided with professional and reliable advice and care. We are able to successfully treat all stages of dental caries, so whatever your problem is you can count on us.
Modern conservative dentistry may be divided, according to the stage of disease development, into three, closely associated fields:
• Prophylaxis - preventing dental caries and periodontitis;
• Cariology - treating the simple cases of caries where the dental pulp is not affected);
• Endodontics - treating the complicated dental caries with inflammation and the death or gangrene of the dental pulp.
