Hypnotheraphy
In my professional practice I constantly come across the confusion between hypnosis, self-hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and Advanced Structured Hypnotherapy that I practice.
In order to understand what advanced hypnotherapy is, we first need to understand the concept of hypnosis. Hypnotherapy is just using hypnotic induction to alleviate or solve patient's psychological problems.
Hypnosis is a mental state in which hypnotic subjects (patients) are fully awake but with a marked decrease in their peripheral awareness. At the same time the levels of mental concentration are heightened to unprecedented levels.
In simple terms, under hypnosis, the patient is very relaxed - to the point that they are able to ‘switch off' the always present clatter that surrounds us - but at the same time far more focused than in normal conditions. This focus is directed inwards and opens the path to their subconscious mind. In this state, a person is very susceptible to suggestions but, contrary to the popular belief, they are in full mental capacity to reject a suggestion that they deem harmful.
Hypnotherapy utilizes this openness of a hypnotised mind to inject positive suggestions directly into the patient's subconscious. This might be done by a trained hypnotherapist or in the form of self-hypnosis through listening to pre-recorded messages.
Suggestive hypnosis is effective in many cases - especially if the task of the hypnotherapist is to alter the client's limiting beliefs or harmful convictions. One example of an area where suggestive hypnosis is known to produce good results is curing people from simple phobias (such as fear of spiders) providing that there is no underlying psychological trauma at the root of the problem.
Advanced Structured Hypnotherapy is a more complex form of hypnotherapy which allows the hypnotherapist to access the patient's subconscious and regress them to access buried memories of past events that lie at the root of current problems.
In my practice I have helped many patients overcome various psychological problems. I specialise in the following areas:
- Love and relationships
- Sexual problems
- Body image problems and weight issues
- Stopping smoking
- Anxiety and phobias
- Self-confidence
- Stage fright and public speaking
Jolanta Rudzka-Gowda - Harley Street Hypnotherapist
Jolanta Rudzka-Gowda is a fully-qualified Harley Street hypnotherapist practising Structured Advanced Hypnotherapy and The Austin Technique. She also offers ‘Stop Smoking in One Hour' sessions with an amazing 95% success rate.
She describes herself as a ‘humanist with a very practical outlook on life' and initially this dichotomy made it difficult for her to find her place in life. Graduating with an MA in Social Sciences she found employment in one of the capital's major banks. She felt, however, that she would prefer a job where she could make a difference in people's lives.
She chose to retrain as a hypnotherapist because, unlike more traditional forms of therapy, hypnotherapy produces noticeable results relatively quickly - bringing much-needed relief to the patients.

Jolanta received training in Structured Advanced Hypnotherapy from Valerie Austin - a world-renowned English hypnotherapist, trainer, lecturer, author and journalist.
The Austin Technique - developed by Valerie and practised by Jolanta - is a unique technique developed to treat conditions including phobias, weight loss, relationship issues and stress. It equips the hypnotherapist with quick and safe techniques for hypnotic induction and hypnotic regression (hypnoanalysis) allowing the patient to access buried memories of past events and resolve current issues caused by these events.
During the course of her training - under hypnotic induction conducted by Valerie herself - Jolanta was freed from life-long fear of driving. Despite getting her driving licence she had been too scared to drive; especially when not accompanied by another driver. Under hypnosis she revealed that her fear is connected with a memory of her train-driver father narrowly escaping a would-be fatal accident when the train he was driving almost collided with another. On a conscious level, she was not aware of this ever taking place, but when asked, her father confirmed that such a situation did happen. Jolanta, who was five at the time, must have overheard the story and then buried it in her subconscious.
The fear of driving subsided soon after the hypnotherapy session and Jolanta has been a confident driver ever since.
Since qualifying as a hypnotherapist, Jolanta has helped many people resolve their problems ranging from anxiety and phobias, through confidence issues, public speaking and stage fright, as well as weight loss, relationship problems and sexual issues.
Jolanta also speaks fluent Polish and translated ‘Hypnosex‘ by Valerie Austin - a book described as ‘a must-buy for a successful relationship' - for publication in the Polish market.
